The book of Psalms is a study in contrasts between the righteous and the wicked. This first Psalm lays out the ultimate choices, comparisons and consequences for all men - they must choose between God's way and their own way. God's way leads to blessing, delight, prosperity and life - man's way leads to sadness, scorn, vanity and death.
