Paul has said that Christ and Him crucified is the basis for our life to be built upon. How we live is what we build for eternity, but will it all burn up in the end?

In chapter 2, Paul will present two ways we can live our lives. After building an understanding of God's wisdom and man's wisdom, Paul now shows how these two wisdoms can affect our lives. Which will we choose to live in and live out? What we choose will not only affect our lives but also the lives of those around us. Will we be spiritual Christians or natural Christians?

Paul sets the foundation for his letter in Chapter One of 1 Corinthians. In the first nine verses he covers all the goodness of Jesus' grace and the many benefits of growing in that grace. Paul highlights the unfortunate reality that had become this church's reality. They had ruined this good thing! Today we hear Paul's plea to return to this good thing. This will be the first of 5 talks on how not to ruin a good thing.
