My parents talk about life on the trail over the years. My grandpa, Al Christensen, is mentioned a lot because he was the person who ignited the outdoor passion in our family.

My pop also tells the story of my Uncle, Mark Christensen, on a backpack packing trip in the seventies. 

We talk about me growing up in Granite Falls and my mom, who worked summers at Camp Silverton up the Mountain Loop Highway in the mid 70's. She also skied Mount Pilchuck regularly and tells some funny stories.

Stacey Arnold is a hiking photographer from Northern Oregon. We talk about how the camera works and having an eye for taking good pictures. 

We also talk about finding the pictures than just sunsets and sunrises. She mentioned her macro lens and how often she uses it for those up close pictures of small leaves and flowers.

Aria Zoner talks about his Youtube Channel where he posts, among other great content, some self made tracks he has written. We talk about the one which stuck out to me, Wilderness. Jim Liming tagged along with Malcolm Bates today and we had quite a chat abou t the differences between the gear they used back in the 60's to what they use today. I also bring up some other gear and ask them about their feelings on carrying certain items in the back country.

Kelly Kate Warren was on episode 54 where we talked about her upcoming attempt to thru hike the Pacific Crest Trail. She was chosen by the Pacific Crest Trail Association to be a "P3" representative for them, promoting positive trail etiquette.

Kelly Kate was injured and had to leave the trail, and her summer dreams, behind her. The miles she completed were great and we discuss some of the positive sides of her hike.

Trail maintenance and support of those working in the backcountry is a top priority for Kelly Kate. "Public Lands Management is sort of a passion of mine," She explains when discussing the funding for jobs like the job she holds as backcountry cook for crews maintaining trails.

"Put your trash in the trash and hide your poop!" This is Kelly Kate's message to hikers in an effort to teach them some basic Leave No Trace ethics.

Adam Sawyer is an outdoor and travel writer, photographer, guide and published author based out of Portland, Oregon. We talk about him writing as the Portland Hiking Examiner for Examiner.com.

In addition to online writing for Travel Oregon, Eater, Canoe & Kayak, Red Tricycle, and Tillamook Coast, his work has appeared in Northwest Travel & Life, 1859, Portland Monthly, Columbia River Gorge, Cascade Journal, OnTrak, 1889, and Backpacker Magazines.

We talk about the books he has authored.  His Guidebooks include Hiking Waterfalls in Oregon, Best Outdoor Adventures Near Portland,  25 Hikes on Oregon’s Tillamook Coast, and the forthcoming Unique Eats & Eateries: Portland.
