Today's message focuses on James' teaching that temptations (which is the same word James has used for TRIALS) don't come from God. But God gives us good things and rewards us for our faithfulness during those trials!

In today's passage, James promises that God will give to those who ask: WISDOM. In this case, we believe he is talking about the wisdom to see trials for what they are.

Today we started our study of James! In vss. 1-4 of chapter 1, James teaches us to take joy in enduring trials. We learned that James assumes that Christians will have trials, those trials will reveal whether our faith is genuine, and that genuine faith will grow us up!

In this passage, we see Jesus as the light coming into our dark place!

John tells us about the coming of John the Baptist, whose role was to prepare the world for the coming of Jesus.

We begin our Holiday season in December with a study of John 1. In today's passage, we find John's introduction of Jesus as "logos" and the description of the need for Jesus in the "darkness."

Our final message in Acts focuses on being "interested" in Jesus and not just "curious." It also emphasizes that some people will be calloused to the message.

The final leg of Paul's voyage is much smoother. We emphasize the faithfulness of God as well as the importance of Christian community.
