This week Liore, Elly, and Aro talk about Overwatch mania, Marvel’s Civil War, and scary games. (And a lot more!) Overwatch is out, and we’re not playing it! And while all three hosts are happy that people are enjoying themselves, we’re maybe a little surprised by the ferocity of the love. Liore complains that her Twitter feed is all “play of the game” screenshots, while narrative-loving Aro is confused about the lack of plot or characters. Unsurprisingly we’re all pretty skeptical about the Overwatch lockbox system, and we talk about just how much money one can spend on that kind of thing. Aro and Elly have both been to see the latest movie in the Marvel pantheon, Civil War, and they very much enjoyed it. Stubborn Liore has not seen it yet, but she’s tempted by stories of Cap’n and Bucky making googly eyes at each other. This week Liore, Elly, and Aro sit down to talk about platformers, games that are very hard, and … dragons attacking London. Aro has found a platformer that does not make her angry! It’s Hell Yeah! and she talks about why her old lady fingers find it doable. This somehow leads us into a discussion of Uncharted 4, which comes out in a few days. Elly and Aro try to persuade Liore that the entire Uncharted series is worth playing for the story, but she seems skeptical. They also argue that it’s basically the video game version of The Mummy, which admittedly sounds pretty fun. Meanwhile, Liore was struck with Playstation 4 madness and tried playing Bloodborne. It turns out that the game is really hard, you guys! Like, really really hard. She talks about why it’s so hard, and the gang discuss the place of punishingly difficult games. This week Liore, Elly, and Aro sit down to talk about eSports, the history of the first person shooter, and PS4 101. Liore went to see the Heroes of the Dorm eSports competition in Seattle, and she reports back on her experience. There were a lot of bright lights and loud noises, and occasionally the crowd cheered at inscrutable things! Overall she had a good time, though, and encourages other newbies to check out any eSports events that happen to show up in their hood. Meanwhile, the Overwatch Beta stress test was last weekend. All three of our intrepid hosts downloaded the game, and… none of them played even a moment of it. It turns out that she hasn’t done much VR gaming yet, because exploring the world from your revolving chair is way too much fun. Elly is sad about the absence of any VR headset in his home, and there’s some discussion over the current hardware options and which make the most sense for the average consumer. Also, will porn once again prove to be the impetus that drives new technology adoption rates? The gang also talk about Nintendo news, including the ugly firing of a Seattle employee who was the target of a harassment campaign, and the launch of their new social network, Miitomo. Elly has been playing The Division, and he reports that it's fun if you can overlook the whole glorifying the military industrial complex thing. Hey, it's Tom Clancy, what do you expect?

Corr has been playing Black Desert Online, and he talks about the life skills and gives some tips on being a horse breeder. Aro and Elly declare that the game sounds a lot like the late, lamented Star Wars Galaxies, and they're not wrong. Meanwhile, Aro talks about her growing auction empire in SWTOR, and gives some tips on making money.

Also, Elly is seriously considering an Oculus or PSVR! Aro is pretty into Jacob and Evie from Assassin's Creed! Corr completed Ori and the Blind Forest, and Aro is a little salty about it!

Liore is playing Black Desert Online, and she shamefully loves the game while hating the cash shop. There's fishing! And trading! And.. manure! Elly seems unimpressed, while Aro is pretty sure she already did all of this back in Star Wars Galaxies.

Meanwhile, Elly has been playing hipster sorta-FPS shooter Superhot. (Super. Hot! Super. Hot!) The gang talk a bit about what makes defines a "shooter" and laments a lack of keybinding options in games.

Also, Liore brags about her new phone! Elly hits level cap in SWTOR! Aro wonders what the big deal is about VR gaming, anyway!

Aro sat down to play the gorgeous Ori and the Blind Forest, and three hours later was stymied by an intense platforming segment. And that's cool, if irritating, but THEN the internet told her to stop being a casual scrub who just wants to play games and get good, noob. Do games need to be punishing? And why is gaming the only hobby community that is actively hostile to new participants?

Meanwhile Liore tried out another grindy Asian MMO, Black Desert, but she is pretty unimpressed with the cash shop prices. Who the butts is going to pay $30 for a costume? Remember when games let you earn your stuff? Aro explains that thanks to crappy RNG she's happy to pay for cosmetic items, but Liore remains unconvinced.

Also, Elly noodles with Google Cardboard and does not vomit even once! Aro gives the deets on her new adorable family cat! Liore keeps talking about Korean Space Boyfriends!
