A set of 14 hospital-acquired conditions that the CMS considers avoidable accounted for 48,771 adverse patient outcomes, 3,219 deaths and more than $2 billion in excess hospital costs in 2016, according to a new research brief.

Patients experiencing these hospital-acquired conditions (HACs) were in the hospital about 8 days longer on average than other patients, with an average excess hospital cost of $41,917and their increased mortality risk was 72.3%.

Ask that hospital staff clean their hands before treating you and ask visitors to clean their hands.

Before your doctor uses a stethoscope ask that the diaphragm (the flat surface) be wiped with alcohol.

If you need a “central line” catheter, ask your doctor about the benefits of one that is antibiotic-impregnated or antiseptic-coated to reduce infections.

If you need surgery, choose a surgeon with a low infection rate.

Ask your doctor about keeping you warm during surgery.

Cocky Bitches are Paul Leary (Butthole Surfers, but also the RIAA Diamond certified producer who has worked with Sublime, John Paul Jones, Reverend Horton Heat, U2, Meat Puppets, Daniel Johnston) on guitar, bass, keyboards and programming, along with drummer Sam McCandless (Cold two RIAA Certified Gold and one RIAA Certified Platinum Albums) on drums and vocalist, and lyricist and performance artist, The Baroness.

The trio originally formed the band, Carny, in 2004 which later morphed into the Cocky Bitches. In 2017, the band released their debut 7-inch “TV’s Ok” on fetish pink vinyl with Slope Records.

On “Mercy,” The Cocky Bitches offer the listener no quarter, no mercy, and no escape. Through the erotic punk vocals of The Baroness, Leary’s rapture invoking psychedelic guitar, and the heavy beats of McCandless, there is a revolutionary swagger and libertine energy that leaves the listener with no safe word as The Cocky Bitches scream, beat, and grunt their way through this extraordinary debut record.

Joyous Wolf is a Rock band from Southern California formed in 2014 by vocalist Nick Reese, guitarist Blake Allard, bassist Greg Braccio, and drummer Robert Sodaro. Reese and Sodaro met on their first day of 6th grade during student orientation. They went to different high schools where Sodaro would go on to befriend Braccio. During that time Reese, by chance, met Allard in the acoustic room at Guitar Center where they would jam CCR’s “Born on the Bayou”. There was an immediate dynamic between the two that ultimately led to an exchange of information. Months later Reese reached out to both Sodaro and Allard with the interest of starting a new project with them. Braccio would soon follow suit.

In the waning months of 2014 early jam sessions would yield the foundation of what Joyous Wolf has become. Fusing together influences ranging from Heavy Metal to Delta Blues, Joyous Wolf creates an expressive, high-energy fingerprint that separates themselves from their contemporaries in the realm of Modern Rock.

With almost one year passing since the release of her latest album ‘Chrome’, Los Angeles area based Betty Moon has no plans to slow down after this busy album cycle. Even during the push of recent singles like “Natural Disaster” and “Parachute”, Moon has been spending much of her time in the studio crafting what will soon be part of her 2019 follow-up album. To give listeners a taste of what’s to come, a preview of the new single “Waste Your Time” can now be heard on via pop culture and music website Celebmix. True to Moon’s rock n’ roll style, the single promises to deliver a large dose of rock, pop and other influences she has picked up along the way.

As with ‘Chrome’, Betty Moon will be strategically releasing multiple singles through the rest of 2018 which will all be included on the yet to be titled full length.
