“Congress overstepped its bounds by legislating to prohibit FGM”

"More than two decades ago, Congress adopted a sweeping law that outlawed female genital mutilation, an ancient practice that 200 million women and girls around the world have undergone. But a federal court considering the first legal challenge to the statute found the law unconstitutional on Tuesday, greatly diminishing the chances of it being used by federal prosecutors around the country.

A federal judge in Michigan issued the ruling in a case that involved two doctors and four parents, among others, who had been criminally charged last year with participating in or enabling the ritual genital cutting of girls. Their families belong to a small Shiite Muslim sect, the Dawoodi Bohra, that is originally from western India.

The case, the first to be brought under the 1996 law that criminalized female genital mutilation, has been closely followed by human rights advocates and communities where cutting is still practiced and whose members have moved in growing numbers to the United States and other western countries.

On Tuesday, Judge Bernard Friedman of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan ruled that Congress did not have the authority to pass the law against female genital mutilation and he dismissed key charges filed against the doctors and removed four of the eight defendants from the case."

Mary Tyler Moore, Dick Van Dyke and Larry Matthews in a publicity still from The Dick Van Dyke Show.

For fans of the late, great Mary Tyler Moore, the phrase “Love is all around” transcends the theme to her stereotype-shattering TV show. In the annals of television history, one would be hard pressed to think of an actress more adored by legions for a longer period of time than Mary Tyler Moore. Mary’s successes were legendary, but her struggles off-camera were often far from the happy endings of her award-winning TV shows.

In the soon to be released book Mary: The Mary Tyler Moore Story (Jacobs Brown Press 2019) Herbie J Pilato offers the first full-scale, objective, and detailed biography of the actress best known from The Dick Van Dyke Show and The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Moore’s life was shaped not only by these two benchmark series but also by the ravages of diabetes, as well as various physical, psychological, and professional challenges. More uplifting experiences came from her involvement with numerous charitable works, such as animal rights and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The idea came easy for former Navy Officer Laura Deming. After hearing Hillary Clinton called Trump supporters “a basket of deplorables” she new it was time to act. That was followed by Peter Strzok texting his friend Lisa Page, “I’m in a Walmart in Southern Virginia and I can just smell the Trump support”. Thus was born - 'Deplorable Fragrances' (www.cult45llc.com).

"I figured I'd create a scent to go with the Trump movement," says Deming. Now she and her business partner, and former host of 'RedNationRising', Timothy Shea are selling 'Deplorable' & 'Deplorable Dude' perfume and cologne coast to coast (see short client bios below).

"We needed to make sure the Trump support we are seeing also had a fragrance that every liberal could smell," says Shea. "With Deplorable & Deplorable Dude' we have such a scent and one that's a perfect Christmas gift for the Trump supporter in your family."

Cult45 LLC., is a veteran own business and 'Deplorable' and 'Deplorable Dude' fragrances are made entirely in the USA.

Consider the Evidence: A Trial Lawyer Examines Eyewitness Testimony in Defense of the Reliability of the New Testament

By

Daniel P. Buttafuoco

LAWYER/AUTHOR: Daniel P. Buttafuoco, author of Consider the Evidence: A Trial Lawyer Examines Eyewitness Testimony in Defense of the Reliability of the New Testament

Trial attorney, Daniel P. Buttafuoco addresses this question so capably in his recent work. As he observes, ''The Bible is a document we can use to examine whether the claims made in regard to our souls are true. If these claims are provably false, we need not worry about this subject at all. If they are true, we need to pay careful attention.''

"'How can I believe the Bible is true?' I am not surprised by this repeated refrain; there is no book in history that has been so studied, and sadly, so maligned, as the Holy Bible. Countless people through the decades have staked their very lives upon it. Others with equal fervor have sought to expel it. "Is the Bible mere fantasy, or is it fantastically true? Is there truth for every human being within its pages--the very Word of God to us--or only for a few? Supremely, its message stands or falls upon its authenticity.

"These are the questions that Daniel Buttafuoco addresses so capably in the work you hold in your hands. As he observes, 'The Bible is a document we can use to examine whether the claims made in regard to our souls are true. If these claims are provably false, we need not worry about this subject at all. If they are true, we need to pay careful attention to what the Bible says.'" "In this book to which his life is committed, he brings the best of his arguments and his keen mind as a lawyer to investigate the Bible. Whether you are a skeptic or a believer, I know you will find this to be an invaluable resource." --Ravi Zacharias Best Selling Author
