Nigel is an educator and researcher in the field of Communication. His work chiefly focuses on "information disorder" and disinformation, as well as crisis communication. In addition to teaching courses on disinformation, research methods, and digital studies, he recently worked as a Computational Disinformation Analyst at a tech startup offering disinformation defense to government agencies and Fortune 100 companies.
On this podcast we discuss Nigel's experiences as an educator during the transitions brought about by the pandemic and how it impacted teaching, connection, community, and more. We also explore the relationship between community and extremist groups online, and how we can combat the rise of disinformation.
