This week Jim is joined by Mike Shoreman. Mike Shoreman is a known as 'The Unbalanced Paddleboarder' he is one of the most respected names in the International SUP community. They start off the podcast with a little fun poke at Mike. Jim calls out Mike for being a fan of the Blue Jays! Mike discusses growing up in Hamilton, Canada and how taking up paddle-boarding in college lead to him becoming an instructor.

 

The two talk about Shoreman's story and how he came to be a paddle boarder and what happened to him in 2018 when he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, losing his work, finding a mentor in Tony Horton. He was so happy when he received through his speeches and the messages he has received back after being diagnosed that he became a motivational speaker. Mike talks about finding his motivation to get back to paddle-boarding despite being told he wouldn't be able to, training, and his rehabilitation. Jim and Mike discuss Mike's book "Crash and Rise" which you should definitely check out! Welcome back to another episode of Catching Heat! Today we are joined by  television producer and sports fanatic, Andy Billman. Andy is a great fan and tells us about how he came into film by watching tape. The two get into talking about sports, the Cleveland lifestyle, how downtown and overall life there is improving. This week’s guest is the amazing and talented Nick Turturro! Nick Turturro is an actor and lifelong Yankee Fan.The two talk about New York City and how Nick grew up in Rosedale, Queens. The two discuss baseball, acting and growing up in Cincinnati. 

 

Nick talks about baseball jackets, Oakland A’s, Yankees jackets, Yankee Jerseys, throwback jerseys, and the classic yankee caps. 

What fun days Jim recalls during his time as a Yankee player, bat days at the Yankees, favorite 70s Yankee players: Bobby Mercer, Bonds, Munson, and Roy White. Jim shares when walking Bernie Williams.

Now there are too many free agents, the boys discuss, not enough minor league players. Remember the good old days? Did the Yankees become too corporate? Where is the grit? Are the Yankees too right handed? When you used to pass Yankee Stadium it was intimidating, now it's not. 

Nick shares his funny stories as an actor but clarifies he’s not a comedian, he’s just really funny. He mentions stories about ackie Gleason and Adam Sandler being funny but also dramatic.Turturro is not performing over zoom and excited about what is next.

The guys talk about working with the Yankees now, writing children's books, and how they are currently trying to spread the Yankee tradition of giving back.
