How well do we know Jesus? We may know about Jesus, but how well do we know Him?  He tells us that we know His Father as well as we know Him, because they are one. Our oneness with Jesus is lived out in His Church. We are there with others, and we need to learn how to get along with the others in the Church, because we are as close together as stones in a wall.

We are very familiar with the parable of the good shepherd who searches for the lost sheep out in the pasture. In this gospel Jesus tells us that He is the Good Shepherd who leads His sheep out to the good pasture lands. For Him to do this the sheep must: (1) Recognize His voice; (2) Pay attention to hear His voice; and (3) Be obedient to His voice.

This may be a good time for us to take stock of ourselves as the Good Shepherd’s sheep. How well are we doing the three things that a good sheep will do?

If Jesus doesn't meet our expectations, do we walk away from Him as the disciples on the road to Emmaus did?  And if He joined us on our journey away from Him, would we listen to Him and ask Him to remain with us?   More importantly, would we recognize Him when He revealed Himself to us?
