I Begin this episode by discussing my own credentials -- or rather, my LACK of credentials. Take or leave what you want :) I mention some good resources for Catholics who want to revitalize their faith. This episode also continues our discussion of Catholic Mega-Churches by focusing on solutions to this problem. The particular solution that I offer is for diocesan priests to live in community with each other. I also mention some issues that have gone on (publicly) in my own diocese which seem to be rooted in this lack of priestly community.

Is Suffering Necessary for Happiness? I argue it is, and explain my position in this episode. Many people try to deal with their suffering by replacing that suffering with pleasure, but do not realize that in almost all cases -- too much pleasure turns into suffering. We also discuss the concept of Natural Law as defined by the Catholic Church, and why a return to natural virtue ethics (even if not Christian ethics) would be a huge improvement for modern culture.

This episode examines Redemptive Suffering from a Natural (Secular) perspective, and what ways can suffering be redemptive (that good can be brought out of it)? I mention topics such as hedonism (seeking pleasure as the greatest good), and how it is the antithesis of Redemptive Suffering; as well as how Exercise is a great example of a Natural form of Redemptive Suffering.

I give some reflections in this episode on the first 2 segments which have been published on the "Mass of the Ages" films which have been going around on YouTube, as well as giving some of my thoughts on the Traditional Catholic movement in general. In this episode, we discuss the issue of Suffering; and in particular, we discuss how suffering can be redemptive both from a natural and supernatural point-of-view via the suffering and death of Jesus Christ on the Cross. We also discuss this issue of Redemptive Suffering as regards the various Protestant understandings of it. In regard to this, I mention Dr. Gavin Ortland (Host of the YouTube channel "Truth Unites") and another mentor I had in High School; both of whom are Protestants whose insights have given me much respect for my Protestant brothers and sisters in Christ.

This episode discusses the Franciscan School of Theology's emphasis on "Voluntarism," which means that they emphasize the human person's will over their intellect. We also discuss St. Bonaventure's idea of a Tripartite (Three-Part) soul containing Memory, Intellect, and Will; the concept of Univocity within the writings of Blessed John Duns Scotus; how all of these relate to the Franciscan understanding of human nature in relation to God; and we make comparisons between the Franciscan School and the Dominican (Thomistic) School.
