It is no surprise to me that Cathy was stalked because her former partner had all the hallmarks of a stalker - he was possessive, angry, violent, intimidating, humiliating, controlling, threatening and abusive on so many levels.  

Cathy stayed with this man out of a genuine fear he would carry out the threats he would continually make, not only to Cathy but her family and friends also.

She began to slide into a world of hopelessness and helplessness, and when she finally found the courage to go to the authorities, no reports were taken, no referrals given, just advice to go the Magistrates Court and speak to the Registrar.

Instead of curling up into a ball & becoming disenchanted and detached from the world she was living in, Cathy began on a path of redemption, using her experiences as a victim of numerous serious crimes, to help others not experience what she has.
