The Apostle John begins his letter much like he began the other books he was inspired to write in the New Testament. He brings the focus immediately on Who Jesus is and how that fact impacts our lives eternally.

1. Your salvation depends entirely on what you do with the historical fact of Jesus’ Resurrection.

2. God doesn’t expect perfection, but He does enable progression.

3. Anyone can justify their sin. Christians confess it.

Zephaniah ministered during the reign of King Josiah and was from the family of David. In spite of how little known he is among the prophets of God, he was a singular figure in Israel’s last revival.

1. There is no such thing as an insignificant member of the Kingdom of God.

2. There’s no limit to what can be accomplished as long as no one cares who gets the credit.

3. God’s work in your life is far more important than how many people appreciate it.

The book of Judges ends on an incredibly dark note. In order to justify themselves, Israel refused to admit they made a mistake regarding how they handled the tribe of Benjamin and made an already ugly situation even worse.

1. You can't help a lost person who doesn't want to be found.

2. Every bad decision began with thinking what felt right to them.

3. Our response to sin can be to cover up or confess."

Micah concludes his prophecy with a reminder of the character of God from the beginning. He is the judge of all the earth and does it better than we will. He is the one who restores us through accountability and confession the moment we come to Him. And He is the kind of God who delights in showing mercy.

1. The only answer to hypocrisy in the church is to be the exception.

2. God is a better judge than we’ll ever be.

3. The mark of Godly maturity is the length of time between when we sin and when we confess seeking restoration.

The tragedy of Israel's first civil war began with a series of spiritual compromises among her leadership. While blame can be leveled at a lot of individuals, all of them had the same spiritual mistakes in common.

1. God is more interested in your heart than your religious routines.

2. God isn't the kind of Person who is used.

3. God Word doesn't change when we decide on His behalf what He's allowed to do or say."

Paul addresses a false claim made about the End Times and clarifies that lies are always answered by the truth. Knowing what we know will happen before the Second Coming, we will be able to recognize when someone makes something up.

1. God always gives reason to trust His Word before speaking it.

2. The Bible is everything we need to know about the nature of God and Godly living.

3. God has personally involved Himself in seeing us protected from error and enabled to speak the truth.

Micah presents God in a court case challenging Israel on their actions against Him. However, He makes Himself the focus of the charge rather than their actions. Nothing He expected or asked of Him was a burden or obligation, yet were exchanging the easy and prosperous life for something that would rob them of what little they had.

1. The only way any of us have a positive standing with God is through the finished work of Jesus Christ.

2. Your attitude towards God is directly reflected by your attitude towards His Word.

3. The greatest assurance of our relationship with God is when He doesn’t let us get away with anything.

In a classic example of our sins looking the worst when seen on other people, the full impact of the Levite’s sin ends up costing thousands of lives in his nation. Due to the lack of prayer, the attitude they brought to prayer when it finally came up, and even the lack of humility regarding the things they did right, it all ended up one big disaster.

1. The problem with our prayer lives is that we don’t take the time to ask what God wants.

2. Humility thrives on truth.

3. God will do whatever it takes to get our attention, including allowing us to experience the consequences of our bad decisions.
