The Importance of the Gospel
The message of the gospel is so important.
- we need to declare it faithfully because people need to hear it as our response to it will determine our eternal destiny, whether we spend it with God or in hell completely separated from His presence
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. (Romans 1:16)3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures (I Cor. 15:3-4)3 Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints. (Jude 3)the parable of the wheat and tares (Matthew 13:36-42)the Bible says that our salvation is through faith alone by grace alone in Christ alone, not because we attend church or live a good life16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.” (John 3:16-17)6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. (John 14:6)3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time. (I Timothy 2:4-6)12 And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast (Ephesians 2:8-9)for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)for the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. (Romans 10:9-10)examine ourselves at the Lord’s table (I Corinthians 11:23-32)but also examine yourselves to see if you are in the faith (II Corinthians 13:5)You might have gone to church all your life, but if you have never really made that decision to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and God’s free gift of salvation, then you are not a Christian. However, today can be the day that you become one! God says in II Corinthians 6:2, and I quote:
for He says, “At the acceptable time I listened to you, And on the day of salvation I helped you.” Behold, now is “the acceptable time,” behold, now is “the day of salvation”— so don’t delay!
If you sense God calling you, then I am going to ask you to take the step to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and pray to receive Him into your heart and your life! If you are ready to take that step, then say the following prayer and ask God to receive His unspeakable gift of eternal life in Christ our Savior:
I know I’m a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe that He died for my sin and that you raised Him to life. I want to trust Him as my Savior and follow Him as Lord, from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen."
