Celebrating the finalists for Science NZ Lifetime Award

Listen Later

All week on Afternoons we've been celebrating the finalists for the Science New Zealand Lifetime Achievement Award. We've had a marine ecologist, a mycologist, a volcanologist, and today we leap into the world of forensic toxicology. Diana Kappatos retired earlier this year after 50 years in forensic toxicology. To rattle off just a few of her accomplishments, Diana supported response to the synthetic cannabinoid crisis, built the surveillance tools we use for drug monitoring, and more recently published a paper that provides a baseline for MDMA-positive drivers ahead of the new roadside testing. She chats to Jesse.
