  • The King's Cross: Love and The Law

Sundays at 9:00 am | Sanctuary

"The King's Cross: Love and The Law"
    Mark 12:28-34

Mark's account of the life and ministry of Jesus is now in the last week, though only Jesus realizes it. Everyone else seems anxious to get Jesus and his rising influence on board with their agenda. At each step, Jesus shows in a story or conversation that the real invitation is his to us: Come and follow me. I and my mission are bigger than anything you could dream.

  • The King's Cross: Grace Makes the Impossible Happen

Sundays at 9:00 am | Sanctuary

"The King's Cross: Grace Makes the Impossible Happen"
    Mark 10:17-31

It seems like an honest and earnest question from a sincere, decent sort of guy who, by all outward appearances, "had it all together." Even Jesus felt "genuine love for him." (vs 21) But then one soul-piercing challenge, and we see how impossible it is to enter into eternal life apart from God's grace.

  • The King's Cross: Mountaintop Preparation for the Mission

Sundays at 9:00 am | Sanctuary

"The King's Cross: Mountaintop Preparation For The Mission"
    Mark 9:2-10

Events demonstrate to the disciples - and Peter in particular - that this Jesus is more than they can imagine. Today, we look at the ultimate "mountain top experience" to see both a growing awareness of the divinity of King Jesus, as well as his mission to rescue his people by dying and rising again.

  • The King Arrives: And Holds His Course

Sundays at 9:00 am | Sanctuary

"The King Arrives: And Holds His Course"
    Mark 8:22-38

Nobody around Jesus seems to see clearly. First, there is the blind man who gains his sight incrementally - step by faithful step, prayer by prayer. Then there is Peter. He "gets it" with who Jesus is and "misses it" about Jesus' death in almost the same moment. How can Peter be so blind? Because no matter what we learn from the world, "whoever loses their life for me (Jesus) and for the gospel will save it." It takes time and grace for this to open our eyes, but Jesus will not be deterred from His identity, His mission or His invitation to us to join Him.

  • The King Arrives: And He Understands the Problem

Sundays at 9:00 am | Sanctuary

"The King Arrives: And He Understands the Problem"
    Mark 7:1-23

Have you ever had a great solution that did not fix the situation, because the solution did not understand the real problem? You realize that your solution "missed the mark" or did not really "get to the root of the problem." We all experience the need for good medical diagnosis of our sickness before our doctor can administer the healing treatment. As it turns out, Jesus both correctly understands the root problem that plagues our life and is Himself the solution that we need.

  • The King Arrives: Let the Revolution Begin!

Sundays at 9:00 am | Sanctuary

"The King Arrives: Let the Revolution Begin!"
    Mark 6:30-46

Don't picture this miracle occurring in a picnic sort of setting. People are angry and feel justified in their anger. They are ready for someone to light the fuse and lead the charge of their righteous vengeance. Jesus sees instead sheep without a shepherd and invites them to receive the provision of the Good Shepherd, the True & Perfect Passover Lamb that only He is.

  • The King Arrives: Why Are We with These People?!?

Sundays at 9:00 am | Sanctuary

"The King Arrives: Why Are We with These People?!?"
    Mark 5:21-43

In rapid succession, the disciples get a front-row seat to see Jesus demonstrate his power over Nature, Evil, Sickness and Death. To get into that position, those disciples had to follow Jesus out of their comfort zone - especially their religiously defined comfort zone! - and stretch their understanding of exactly WHO Jesus is and what He can do. Don't think it will be any different for yourself.

  • The King Arrives: He Can Do What?

Sundays at 9:00 am | Sanctuary

"The King Arrives: He Can Do What?"
    Mark 4:1-2, 30-41

As his notoriety grows, Jesus now begins to teach using parables - avoiding the distractions of his day so he can stay focused on the Kingdom of God. But don't think he is simply a wise, moral teacher who adeptly uses nature insights to point to matters of the Kingdom! He also commands nature itself, causing his disciples to ask again, "Who is this man?!?"

  • The King Arrives: What to Make of This Man?

Sundays at 9:00 am | Sanctuary

"The King Arrives: What to Make of This Man?"
    Mark 3:20-35

Jesus arrives on the scene with quite a stir, so the question is, "What are we to make of this man?" We'll look at two answers from the text and one from our own moment, as well as weigh the claims of Jesus Himself. That is the question for us each and all: What are we to make of this man Jesus?
