  • Countdown to the Moon

Many space industry insiders talk excitedly about a human return to the Moon, but how does the general public feel about this endeavor? Do they think it will really happen and how does it stack up against a long list of priorities for our home planet?

In this week's episode, I speak with Nathan Price about his project, Countdown to the Moon, in which he interviews one person every day until humans are set to return to the Moon in 2024. Nathan and I will discuss how his passion project has evolved into an important time capsule of public sentiment regarding the planned Artemis missions and valuable lessons learned from his conversations so far.

My guest on the show, Nathan Price, is a grassroots space advocate who is spreading the vision of humanity expanding out into the solar system for this generation and the next.  He founded the North Houston Space Society in 2017, an organization that seeks to educate the local community about space exploration and future mission development.  Nathan is also a National Space Society Space Ambassador. You will find Nathan at the International Space Development Conference (ISDC), New Worlds Conference, and International Astronautical Congress (IAC), among other places.

  • Building the Future: A Space Architecture Conversation

Have you ever wondered about how humans might live and work someday on the Moon, or what the field of space architecture is all about?

In this episode, I have the opportunity to talk with Madhu Thangavelu, about the space architecture and infrastructure that will support Artemis mission objectives, and a sustained presence on the Moon. We’ll also discuss how those plans might feed into future cities on the Moon and eventually Mars.

My guest on the show, Madhu is a lecturer of both astronautical engineering and architecture at the University of Southern California.  Madhu leads the Graduate Space Concepts Synthesis Studio at USC. He holds degrees in both engineering and architecture and has contributed extensively to the areas of architectural design synthesis, space architecture, space systems engineering, and lunar base design. He is the author or co-author of over 70 technical papers in space architecture, as well as numerous articles in space-related trade journals and magazines dealing with space stations, lunar base design and human factors. He is a co-author of the book The Moon: Resources, Future Development and Settlement.  He is on the advisory board of the Moon Society and the editorial board of the Journal of Space Philosophy. Madhu is a strong advocate for articulating the philosophy of space.

Listen in to learn more about how space architects will build humanity's future off-Earth.
