The first half was under relative control from Celtic with Bernardo's volley finding the back of the net. In the second half Kyogo bought himself some space and curled one past Butland into the top corner. Rangers eventually went down to 10 men, and after a Tavernier free-kick late in the game, the defending Champions saw out a nervy final 10 minutes to take all three points.

Celtic return to Premiership action away to St. Mirren on Tuesday.

A mistake from Joe Hart saw St. Johnstone take the lead from a corner before the break, while in the second half an edge-of-the-box strike from McGregor sparked life into the Hoops. A wonder strike from O'Reilly put the Hoops in front, where after a match-winning save from Hart started a breakaway at the other end with James Forrest finishing it off to secure three points for the Hoops.

The Celts return to Parkhead in the midweek against Hibs.

An excellent long-shot from Turnbull equalised the game, yet he later failed to score from the penalty spot which would have put the Celts in front before the break.

In the 84th minute, good work from Kyogo & Holm set up Hyeon-Gyu Oh who sealed the three points for the Hoops.
