The Celtics opened their preseason Friday night with a loss in Charlotte. Gordon Hawyard and Kyrie Irving made their return to the court.

The Boston Celtics open their 2018-19 campaign with a preseason game tonight at the Dean E. Smith Center in Chapel Hill against the Charlotte Hornets. 

Boston will be without Marcus Smart, who remained in Boston due to personal reasons.

At their annual media day in Canton, MA, the 2018-19 Boston Celtics addressed the media for the first time. Highlights included Kyrie Irving gushing over Celtics lore, Marcus Smart refocusing on basketball, and more.

NBA teams league-wide held media day earlier this afternoon. For the Celtics, players such as Al Horford, Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward, and many others spoke with media members about the team's expectations heading into a new season along with other fun and interesting topics.

ESPN released it's latest installment in the top 100 players today. No. 50-31 were revealed and three new Celtics made the list.

It was also a sad day in Celtics Nation, as Marcus Smart's mother, Camellia Smart, has lost her battle with cancer and passed away late Monday. 

The Boston Celtics and guard Jamal Crawford reportedly have mutual interest. Crawford last played for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Terry Rozier and Marcus Smart both made appearances on ESPN's top 100 player list.

The Boston Celtics are set to kick off their pre-season schedule on September 28th against the Charlotte Hornets.
