The Celtics goal heading in to the playoffs was to remain healthy. So far, not so good. Kyrie Irving has been ruled out for tomorrows game against the Washington Wizards. Marcus Smart will also sit out tomorrow adding to the long list that is Boston's injury report. Al Horford is questionable, while Jaylen Brown remains in concussion protocol. Daniel Theis was lost for the season after a Monday MRI. Paul Pierce earned his nickname on this day 17 years ago. Paul lit up the Lakers for 42 points and earned his moniker 'The Truth' from Shaquille O'Neal.  

The Boston Celtics have certainly been trending in today’s news, albeit for some unfortunate news.

Daniel Theis is likely out for the season after tearing his meniscus late in last night’s loss to Indiana. Marcus Smart, who had just returned after the all-star break from injury, is out indefinitely with an injury to his right thumb.

And in a slight turn of good news for the Celtics, star guard Kyrie Irving’s left knee soreness is reportedly not considered anything more than tendinitis, and he will not miss extended time.

The Boston Celtics were already without Jaylen Brown (concussion) and Al Horford (illness) Sunday night. The visiting Indiana Pacers were playing good basketball since the All-Star Break.

The Celtics were going to require a total team effort to win. While they enjoyed a 10-point lead at halftime, fans began to get antsy when no one saw Kyrie Irving for the start of the third quarter. Irving was ruled out with left knee soreness. With no Kyrie in the second half, the Pacers proved to be too much for the undermanned Celtics. A late rally would come up just short, with Boston losing 99-97.
