the boston celtics have made their first trade for this season. The celtics have traded Courtney Lee to the memphis grizzlies in exchange for Jerryd Bayless. This move has many celtic fans wondering. Was this move just made to get rid of Lee's 3 year contract. Or was it to set up something even more bigger later on. Bayless is a free agent at the end of this season. That gives the celtics 6 expiring contracts for after this season. the celtics have now gone past the 1/4 mark of the nba season. They are in the thick of things in the playoff race in the eastern conference and the team may have more help on the way in the form of all-star point guard Rajon Rondo. Rondo is expected to return to the floor sometime in january so now the team has to decide with the eastern conference so weak. What do they want to do. Do they leave the team the way it is. Do they use some of their assets to trade for another star to pair with Rondo and Green to maybe make a push for the 3rd seed and give both the Heat and Pacers a run for their money. The NBA trade season is officially underway and the rumors just continue to keep pouring in. The celtics have been linked to 3 trades already in the past week. The most interesting one of all is for Houston Rockets disgruntled center Omer Asik. Asik has requested as trade ever since Dwight Howard took his spot in the starting lineup and the Celtics are in need of a legit big man Asik at 7' tall would be a great pick up but what would the celtic's need to give up in return. Another name is Pelicans guard Austin Rivers the son of former celtics head coach Doc Rivers. This move is probably the more likely of any the celtics have been linked to but do the celtic's really need Austin Rivers. Finally the final trade has Rajon Rondo going to the kings. This is the least likely to happen.
