President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that he met with Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich in Kyiv in May to convey a message to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin through him.

In May, Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich visited Kyiv at the invitation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The Ukrainian leader sought to use him to persuade Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to agree to direct peace talks.

Following an attack by Ukrainian drones on the Leningrad Oblast of the Russian Federation on 6 June, fires broke out at a Russian Navy arsenal in the Lomonosovsky District. The blaze spread across an area of approximately 1.5 square kilometres. The fire is visible even from space.

On the night of Saturday, 6 June 2026, drones struck several targets in the territories of Ukraine temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation. The targets included a thermal power station, railway infrastructure in the Donbas, and a fuel depot in Crimea.

Around 7% of all those mobilised are legally entitled to a deferment, which, for some reason, was not taken into account during the mobilisation process.
