So very often fake religion masquerades behind a mask of self-righteousness. Jesus is not fooled by the fake. Jesus came to the temple that day to those who knew they needed help. He still offers that kind of help. Jesus introduces a new order of life that is not tied to a temple but to him. An authentic life. The key to not being fake is trusting in God, and to trust God you must know Jesus.

This morning we met two groups of people who miss Jesus though He was right in front of them. These two groups were very different but they missed him for exactly the same reason: they expected different packaging. Missing Jesus is not just disappointing but tragic. We must not do the same thing-we must not miss Jesus! Miss Jesus and nothing else you find will matter.

Our Lord never ignores pleas for mercy. His ear is always attuned to calls of the helpless and the hurting. And any who come asking for mercy from Jesus will always receive it.
