This webinar walks through the September WASDE report and shows how to turn its supply and demand numbers into a working grain marketing plan. USDA put the 2026 corn yield at 178.5 bushels an acre, down from 180.7 in August and 186.5 the year before, while the soybean yield moved up slightly to 52.8 bushels an acre. Peterson opens the report itself and goes page by page through the corn and soybean balance sheets, then shows how to calculate stocks-to-use, the share of a crop left over at the end of the crop year, which now sits at 9.7% for corn and 6.77% for soybeans. He closes with a market update covering Black Sea export disruptions, China's soybean buying, El Niño's effect on South American planting, and what harvest weather and firm crush basis mean for pricing decisions this fall.
With Jeff Peterson, assistant professor of practice, UNL Agricultural Economics.
