Resources for the first year of parenting were highlighted in our June 2022 Blog as well as in our Coffee Connection with Cynthia MacDuff of Family Services Agency and Jacqui Banta of Children's Resource and Referral of SB County.
This week, May 2-8 is Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week. We were excited, energized, vulnerable and open to learning more about local resources that can support families experiencing PMADs (Perinatal or postpartum Mood and Anxiety Disorders)on the Central Coast to the CCCN community today.
At our first Coffee Connection of 2022, we were joined by local doulas Teresa Gibson, CLD, from SLO Doula Connection, Alexandria Porter, CLD (DONA), from Birth Within Doula, and Alexandra Klein, CLD, from SMV Doula Collective. We also heard from Nikki Taylor, Student Midwife and Apprentice with Kinship Midwifery and Pure Birth. At this week's Coffee Connection, our guest speakers and CCCN members spoke about their non-toxic, environmentally friendly products for families on the Central Coast. Lorena from TinkleBelle Diaper Service, Ashley Murphy from Two Births Doula, and Clare Ramirez from Wildflower Medicine were out guest speakers. We enjoyed seeing their products in-person!
The CCCN recognizes October as National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month. This month CCCN Members were joined by two guest speakers who guided us through conversations, resources, and support surrounding the topic of grief in pregnancy and infant loss.
