Psalms 127:1-127:5 | Has there ever been a time in your life when you tried building something on your own, only for it to failure miserable, and for you to be left exhausted and full of anxiety at the end of the day? The same thing happens in our homes, family, and church when we try building on our strength and effort, but rather we are to be utterly dependant on Jesus!

Psalms 127:1-127:5 | What does it look like to allow Jesus to build your family and the family of God? When we rely on him, the results are rest and blessing. But when we rely on ourselves, the results are anxiety and busyness. That kind of life will go nowhere. But as we build on the solid rock of Christ, we will enjoy the blessing of God on our kids and family.

Revelation 3:7-3:13 | The church in Philadelphia had little power in and of itself but Jesus ? in His great power ? had opened a door for the church that no one could shut. A door of Salvation. A door of opportunity to tell others about Jesus. This serves as a great reminder not to focus on our weakness but His power.

Revelation 3:1-3:6 | What makes a church live? Is it a bunch of good programs and things to do during the week? Jesus calls out the church in Sardis for being dead even though they looked alive. Our goal is not to have the appearance of life, but to be truly alive.

Revelation 3:1-3:6 | The church in Sardis was active, wasn't experiencing persecution, was the largest of the seven churches and the wealthiest, but was dead. Yet Jesus graciously calls those who will listen to wake up and remember that what you have heard (the gospel) and received (the Holy Spirit).

Revelation 3:1-3:6 | According to Jesus, a church community can have all the signs of life but is nevertheless dead or dying. The way to stay out, or fight out, of this corner is to repent and remember what Jesus has taught and do it.

Revelation 2:18-2:29 | The church is called to follow the authority of Jesus, even when it is tempting to compromise. Jesus commends the church for their love and service, but they had stopped holding to the truth. We are still tempted to do that same thing today, but the promise is that for those who persevere, we will reign with Jesus.

Revelation 2:18-2:29 | Where Ephesus lacked love, Thyatira lacked truth. And a healthy church needs both. What does Jesus think of a church that tolerates evil? You don't have to wonder, Jesus tells this church exactly what He thinks about it.
