Today we'll learn about the greatest deception that could ruin our lives for eternity, a deception so subtle that can go unseen even by those closer to us and more dangerous than anything under the sun. We need to learn how to recognize it and cling to a foundation for life.

It seems incredible that Jesus would tell a story where the dishonest person is the one being commended, yet that is exactly what he does. But he is not praised because he was dishonest but because he used his limited time and resources well. Likewise, as Christians we are called to use our temporary gifts and resources in order to make an impact on eternity.

Jesus tells two short parables about the gospel as a treasure in a field and pearl of great price. The two men in the parable recognized the value of what they found, were determined to have it, sold everything they had to make the purchase, and acquired the treasure. Do you recognize the infinite worth of Jesus? Are you determined to have Jesus? Do you desire Jesus more than anything else? And have you trusted in Jesus for salvation?
