As we conclude our series on Psalm 23, we've heard all summer about the promises of God. What do we do when the promises of God meet the pains of everyday life? For Jesus, he proclaims the gospel of the kingdom.

Have you ever pursued something or someone with your entire being? Have you ever stopped to consider what made you do this? Psalm 23:6 gives us some insight into God's pursuit of us, but out of this small passage comes the simple question, "How should I respond?"

"You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows." These two images revealed to David that God is his host and he is a distinguished guest in the house of the Lord. Join us today as we explore what these two images mean for us since the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.

In Psalm 23:5a, David makes the audacious claim that God prepares a table before him in the presence of his enemies -- a symbol of ultimate joy in awful circumstances. What might it look like to eat at this table and taste this joy today?

David uses the imagery of a rod and staff to describe how a good shepherd brings comfort to his sheep. David encourages us that our Shepherdcomforts us, through his written Word (the rod) and his living Spirit within us (the staff), in such a way that we need not walk in fear.
