Skepticism is an attitude of science that includes doubt and questioning behavior towards knowledge claims that lack evidence or have questionable facts. Having a skeptical repertoire guards against superstitious beliefs and a faulty understanding of the world. Parents, and even practitioners, are hurt by pseudoscience, conspiracy theories, and other false claims by (1) being swindled out of their money, (2) taken advantage of, (3) making bad life decisions, and sometimes (4) death.
