Salvation and Spiritual Growth – Command: Devotion
Training for Godliness Series
In this lesson, we focus on a foundational command for the Christian life: devotion—giving ourselves entirely to God and keeping our minds fixed on Him.
Scripture calls us in 1 Timothy 4:15 to “give yourself entirely to these things,” so that our growth may be evident to all. Spiritual growth is not accidental—it comes from a life that is fully committed.
We are also told in Ephesians 5:16 to redeem the time, making the most of every opportunity. A devoted life is a focused life, one that chooses God again and again throughout the day.
In Colossians 4:5, we are reminded to walk in wisdom and live carefully before others. Devotion is not only inward—it shapes how we live and how we speak.
And at the heart of it all is the command from John 15:4:
👉 “Abide in Me, and I in you.”
This is the source of everything. We cannot grow, bear fruit, or remain strong unless we stay connected to Christ.
Devotion means:
- Giving ourselves fully to God’s Word
- Meditating on truth daily
- Guarding our time and attention
- Walking wisely before others
- Abiding continually in Christ
As we keep our minds on God, our faith is strengthened, our obedience deepens, and our lives begin to reflect Him more clearly.
This is the path of spiritual growth:
👉 A life devoted to God produces a life that bears fruit.
