Khadine Morcom has been a yoga and meditation teacher for over 20 years and has just completed a Masters Degree in Yogic Tradition. In this episode we talk about her Dāśa mahāvidyā course where over 12 months she takes her students on an exploration of the 10 Tantric Goddesses that make up the Mahavidya. These Goddesses have much to teach us about how we live our lives, how we relate to the world, both internal and external and about the traditions that underpin our yoga and meditation practices. This is a deeply grounding meditation where we use a beautiful soundtrack of British birdsong to bring us deep into this visualised meditation. Birdsong is a beautiful way to bring ourselves into a relaxed state. It goes back to very ancient programming of the human race because when there is a predator around birds don’t sing – so when we hear birdsong we innately know that we are in a safe place, that there are no predators around, that we can be in our rest and digest, parasympathetic nervous system. So there is a practical reason why listening to the birds chirping away is good for us – it is an amazing tool to have at our fingertips.

Birdsong Meditation

Erin Copelan's book "Welcome to Caregiving - What Caregivers Never Talk About" is the theme of our chat today. After years of caring for her husband Erin realised that she had to work really hard on healing the trauma of being a carer. This is the type of trauma that creeps up on you - it's not a bang-slap-whallop type of trauma but an attritional trauma of years of having to be on high alert, of worry, of heartbreak and grief. Understanding what carers go through will help not only other carers, but those who know carers in how to support them. Chakra Chat - with Erin Copelan (Author and Caregiver)

Today we are going to use the beautiful, ancient, Polynesian meditation of Ho’oponopono. The word Ho’oponopono translates as “make things right” or “make things move back into balance”. In our practice today we are using Ho’oponopono to find freedom from the past, freedom from whatever it is that we use to torment ourselves, from guilt and from situations that have caused us pain. When we practice this mantra we are using it to rectify an error in our thoughts. This error arises as thoughts that are caused by a painful memory from the past or a judgement, projection, from anger and from negative self-talk. In other words we are clearing our karmic data. We do this by apologising and asking for forgiveness from a place of love. We do this by sending this intention deep within, to ourselves, to others and to a situation. As a tool for life this mantra can be used on the move! You don’t need to be in a meditative space to use this. When you have caught yourself in judgement or anger or frustration, or caught up in a negative thought pattern, this simple mantra can unwind the harmful thinking.

Ho'oponopono Meditation

This is my second conversation with Katrina! In our first chat we didn't delve into the other area of expertise that Katrina has written about - the Divine Union of the Masculine and Feminine. In this chat we explore the delicate dance between the masculine and feminine energies that exist in relationships, in society and within ourselves. It is an endlessly interesting journey to understand and quite the challenge to throw off our deeply ingrained preconceptions of these tow opposing and complementary energies that have been drilled into us by our culture. Understanding the true nature of what these energies hold can be the answer to more fulfilling relationships and to understanding our own energies more deeply. Chakra Chat - with Katrina Bos (Divine Union of Masculine & Feminine)

In this meditation I use a recording that I made sitting in bliss beside a river in the north of Scotland. The sun was warm and the green of spring was at it's most vibrant and glorious. I was inspired to create this meditation simply watching the steady flow of the beautiful water and connecting with the Svadisthana Chakra. I hope that you enjoy the soundscape!
