What if you don't need another thing?

Another practice. Another course. Another book. Another thing to fix, heal or improve.

After a surprisingly honest email to my community, I found myself thinking about how overwhelmed so many of us are - and whether self-development can sometimes become another thing we feel we have to do.

There is a difference between wanting to grow and believing that who you are right now isn't enough.

So what if, just for a little while, you took your foot off the pedal? Loosened the reins? Stopped trying to work everything out?

What if you simply allowed yourself to be exactly where you are?

Maybe you don't need another thing today.

Maybe you just need a little space.

And if you can find half an hour where there is genuinely nothing you need to do, nowhere you need to be and nothing you need to achieve... perhaps you're already meditating. ❤️

Inna Segal is an author of the incredible book "The Secret Language of your Body" which has sold over a million copies and has been translated in to 29 languages. This is Inna's second time on the podcast and it was such a pleasure to take a deep dive with her. In this episode our aim was to look into the energies of Masculine and Feminine. Of course, the conversation meanders slightly but we discuss Inna's healing methods, the difficulties of trying to "have it all". Sometimes the most nourishing thing we can do is stop. In this very different episode, I’m taking a short break from creating new meditations. Having taught my yoga classes around the theme of he Solar Plexus Chakra this week, I felt drawn to explore Inner Strength for this meditation. I think quite often we don't realise how much we have until it is fully tested, until a situation comes along that requires us to be really strong. Women are so incredibly strong - throughout history, through the ages and lineage of women who have bought us all here today there has been an inner strength that is awe inspiring. I want to redefine Inner Strength as not pushing through or holding everything together, but the quiet strength that has carried us through every difficult thing so far. When we are our true selves we can see our incredible strength - we can do the job, care for the people in our lives, and have the strength to do so much. It's not about being able to push through or hold everything together, it's about that deep knowing of the strength that we have.

This year's Lion's Gate Portal reaches its peak on 8/8. The number 8 is often associated with the infinity symbol, reminding us of balance, flow and the continuous cycle of growth, transformation and becoming as well as the quiet phases of rest and challenge. Lionsgate Portal is a magical mix of astronomy, astrology, ancient symbolism and modern spirituality. The sun is travelling through the zodiac house of Leo, which is ruled by the Sun itself which brings an energy of warmth, confidence, courage, creativity, leadership and authenticity. This energy is asking who you are when you bring these aspects into your life. During the Portal the star Sirius (also known as the dog star) starts its annual rising which was very significant for the ancient Egyptians because it signalled the beginning of the flooding of the River Nile which brought life, renewal and the promise of a good harvest. So the rising of this star was held as a sign of abundance, and new beginnings. Nature running its beautiful cycles to support us, trusting in Mother Earth to support us, the stars being the guide, the sign that life's cycles keep flowing. This is a time where we can connect with the energy of the stars and the earth and the flow of energy between the two and to reflect on who you are becoming...

Adding to this, we have a solar eclipse during the Lion's Gate window, which closes on 12th August. Many people see this combination as a potent time to pause, reflect and consciously set intentions for the path ahead.

But, in this meditation, I invite you to ask a different question.

Not, "What do I want?"

But...

"Who am I becoming?"

Rather than focusing on what you hope to attract into your life, this meditation invites you to remember the qualities that already live within you. The courage, wisdom, compassion, trust or joy that are waiting to be embodied more fully.

When we become the person we are here to be, our intentions naturally begin to unfold from that place of alignment.

I hope this meditation helps you step through your own inner gateway with clarity, purpose and an open heart.

In preparation for letting in new energy and intentions, we need to clear out what is weighing us down and what is no longer ours. We are in the midst of the Lionsgate Portal and before we begin to invite in new intentions for the coming year in this powerful astrological phase, we are letting go of what needs to be released. Mother Earth will receive it gratefully and with grace - what is waste to us is fertiliser to her. Give with love and gratitude. Next week we will set intentions with Lionsgate energy.

We use the word "Light" frequently in meditation and healing work and are often encouraged to bring light into the body, to surround ourselves with light, to visualise light. But what does this actually mean? I have been considering the word "light" and its other meaning - the opposite of heavy. What if bringing "light" into our bodies isn't about actual luminescence but about feeling a lighter energy? What if shining the light of our attention within our body allows heaviness to become lighter? This is what we are exploring in this meditation...
