The Field of 68 Media Network has partnered with Deon Thomas, the leading scorer in the history of the Illinois program, to launch Champaign On Ice, a podcast on your favorite team, the Fighting Illini. Thomas played four seasons at Illinois and finished his career with 2,129 points, making him the lone Illini player to surpass the 2,000-point mark. He was selected in the first round of the 1994 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks, but instead elected to play professionally in Europe and Israel - where he spent 14 years in six countries. After his playing career, Thomas got into coaching and was the head coach and athletic director at Lewis and Clark Community College from 2009-14. He then spent two seasons as an assistant coach at UIC, and now serves as a radio analyst for the Fighting Illini Sports Network, a studio analyst for the Big Ten Network and also the associate director for development at his alma mater.
