It’s the aftermath of the pod Christmas party, but there was no time for Eoin and James to wallow in self-pity as it was full steam ahead on the playing fields last weekend. Clare got their National Ladies Football League campaign off to the best possible start, Avenue United and Newmarket Celtic are into the last 16 of the FAI Junior Cup and Munster retained their Women’s Inter-provincial title.
Two of those Munster players joined the lads in studio as Aoife Corey and Alana McInerney made up half of Clare’s four strong contingent;
There was also a focus on the start of the National Football League with analysts Kieran Madigan and Derek Dormer along with getting the Louth perspective with Louth & Proud podcast host Dan Bannon;
That’s not all as there were discussions on the Munster Post-Primary Schools Championships including Ardscoil Rís and CBS Ennistymon, localsoccer, rugby and of course ladies football.

Far from being starved or malnourished, Eoin and James still kept food to the forefront of this week’s pod. They took the path of yeast resistance in discussing Clare’s final outings in this year’s Munster Hurling League and McGrath Cup Football competitions before getting into the meat of the county’s flagship ladies footballers commencing their National League campaign away to Sligo this Sunday with captain Caoimhe Harvey. Eimear Kelly also gave them something to taco about when relaying her unique fundraising trip to Kenya recently as part of the Plant the Planet Games initiative while Post-Primary Schools, Interprovincial and club rugby were also part of their weekend ketchup.

It’s a new year with renewed cheer, but unfortunately for the pod the same old gear in the form of presenters Eoin Brennan and James Lynch who embraced the first dew of Clare’s competitive bows in both the Munster Hurling League and McGrath Cups;
Derek Dormer and Kieran Madigan reviewed the Banner’s opening defeats to Tipperary and Kerry along with Sixmilebridge’s exit from the Munster Junior B Hurling Championship at the semi-final stage;
The Clare District Soccer League also returned after an extended Christmas break and even off the field made an immediate impact with the draws for the Clare Cup, Women’s Cup, Youth’s Cup and Hugh Kelly League Cup;
While in a busy schedule for rugby, four Clare natives successfully represented Munster in their comprehensive opening victory over Ulster in the Women’s Interprovincial Championship.

The U-21 Hurling and Football Championships, Clare GAA Convention, Rugby fixtures were also discussed while the pod also got to hear snippets of an interview with Clare hurler Mark Rodgers whom Eoin met on his visit to Raheen for the launch of the Coop Superstores Munster Hurling League.
