Your Chancellor is a sports fan because, to him, sports are an affirmation of hope, when winning becomes the joyful reward for struggling through to an otherwise uncertain outcome. Yet too many media types seem to see sports as some sort of science of the haves and have nots, and one that is more about the inevitability of defeat. But if you can’t find joy in sports, The Chancellor says, stop watching, and stop listening to negative sports media voices who diminish your enjoyment of something that’s meant to be entertainment.

Ray suggests that our cultural acceptance of dismissing viewpoints as “privileged” if they come from the male, straight or white perspective is nothing short of a new form of unacceptable discrimination. The only privilege is to be alive in America. Let’s work together to stay that way.
