What does it look like to stand on holy ground? Maybe it sometimes looks like the brokenness of Peter as he slips into further betrayal of Jesus, right when the rooster crows. Because at that moment, Peter has finally come to the ultimate end of himself - his strength, his creativity, his reserves, his craftiness - and he is vulnerably exposed. And Jesus knows full well. And Jesus is obedient to the Father's will. And Jesus loves Peter through it.

This is what denying Jesus looks like. God wants people to recognize this, repent of this, and return to delighting in Christ together.

Jesus prayed a prayer at the end of His earthly life and ministry. It is a powerful model for His followers and a poignant reminder of what is truly important for us to consider.

Like the two pillars of Solomon's temple ("Established" and "Strength"), so too the two pillars of Joy and Peace are the reminders to the follower of Jesus Christ of Who God is and what He has done and is doing in the life of the believer. What are you trusting in as your source of victory, especially in uncertain times?
