EP. 03 of our podcast titled "Changing the Narrative" is now out! In this episode, Dr. Jasmine Mitchell was interviewed on topics encompassing the media's representation of multiracialism and the intersection between gender and multiracialism. Dr. Jasmine Mitchell is an outspoken figure in the multiracial community. She is a PhD in American Studies from the University of Minnesota and a BA in American Studies from Williams College. She is also an Associate Professor of American Studies and Media Studies at the State University of New York-Old Westbury where her scholarly specialities include race and gender representation in popular culture, mixed-race, African-Americans and Afro-Brazilians, Black feminisms, and race and sports. In addition, she is also a published author of books examining contemporary media representations of mixed-black women in the United States and Brazil. Her scholarly insight is highlighted throughout this podcast as we delve into topics such as structural and systemic racism and the impact it has particularly on multiracialism.
