I had a good chat with Real (WeWillNeverBeFamous). It was a freewheeling conversation talking about the podcast industry, the power of Oprah, old Ravens quarterbacks, Artificial Intelligence, the Mayweather v. McGregor fight, and much more!

Core Demonstration is a Portland-based hip hop group. Their music catalog contains a wide-array of styles ranging from the lo-fi, esoteric, G-Funk, and Hyphy. I had the chance to speak with Core Demo members, KaressthaMC and Samadhi Cyph about Portland Hip Hop’s growth and how the scene is evolving, the spiritual influence contained in my favorite project from the Portland collective-- God Notes. And, of course, we had a freewheeling conversation about their current studio setup and how it had changed over time.

JPEGMAFIA is an alternative hip-hop artist based in Baltimore, Maryland. With his many influences ranging from metal to reggae, JPEGMAFIA creates a soundscape full of obscure samples, atonal synths, and head-nodding distorted base. I had the chance to speak to JPEG some months ago about many topics including: his older projects under different stage names, approach to production and songwriting, experiencing prejudice, hate mail, honing his craft while overseas in the army, performing at the Gathering of the Juggalos and much more!

King Shampz is an emcee from West Philly. Along with his brother, and producer, Azzan, Shampz founded Dead Wrong Records. The label is filled with other talented artists who share a similar aesthetic with Shampz--a gritty sample-based sound with extensive wordplay and reflective braggadocio lyrics.

We spoke to King Shampz over a year ago about many topics including: his music relationship with his brother, Azzan, visiting Mecca and Egypt during his formative years (and eating camel burgers), how African Americans are perceived in Egypt, Philly’s hip-hop legacy, and much more!

Kuro Silence is a rapper/producer from Baltimore, Maryland. From trap to experimental, Kuro’s work defies normative currents of Hip-Hop’s soundscape with his work ethic and forays into Hip-Hop’s many sub-genres.

P.SOUL is a poet/producer from Minneapolis, Minnesota. P.SOUL has made a name for himself in the YouTube producer community, while building a devoted audience for his livestreamed beat sessions on Periscope.

This is the second part of my discussion with Real of the We Will Never Be Famous Podcast.

Real is the co-host of the We Will Never Be Famous Podcast. Alongside is (literally lucky) counterpart -- Lucky, Real provides funny and insightful commentary regarding popular culture and its many obscurities. And I speak with him to do the same.

We discuss our encounters with police in Baltimore, Kanye West's catalog. And spend the remainder of our talk discussing nickelodeon and the Hey Arnold! movie that never was.

We begin discussing Never Famous’ first episode, which consisted of Marvel and DC movies and the sex appeal of its female characters regardless of their “exotic” colors. We then shift gears and talk about an array of topics ranging from genocide and the many test episode Real and Lucky have done for We Will Never Be Famous.

This is part one of our conversation. The Second part of my conversation with Real is coming soon!
