The Ambassador explains the First Contact mission and the chance they will meet the Olmeri. They talk about the problems. After the meeting, Captain Logan records a log entry. Maja interrupts. N'amani records a message to his sister, Aswana. Commander Brandon receives a message from her mother. The Ambassador and N'amani get a call from President Smbarak. The mission gets underway.

Maja gives Captain Logan command of the Magellan. Commander Brandon sends a message home. Minister Pargals goes to see President Smbarak about the Ambassador's reports, or rather, the lack of them.
