Chaotic Good (Enough) — an ESEA Heritage Month mini series
About the show
Chaotic Good (Enough) is a mini series made for ESEA Heritage Month. It grew out of Beyond Belonging, a book I co-wrote about the mistakes and the learning that came with organising as part of besea.n, Britain's East and Southeast Asian Network. A big part of getting better at this work is pooling what we know, so I wanted to meet other organisers and have a rant n rave about the whole thing. We celebrate what's gone well, and we also dig into the pitfalls.
The series focuses on individuals and independent collectives, because I want to keep the grassroots side of ESEAHM alive
This episode: Sue Man, Offshoots Festival
Sue Man curated Offshoots, a festival of sculpture, film, food and workshops that is running until 27 September 2026 at the ESEA Community Centre, 12–14 Englefield Road, London N1 4LS, as part of ESEA Heritage Month.
The festival took its name from the volunteer plant, the kind that sprouts where it wasn't planted. That idea ran through the programme: displacement, belonging, and taking root somewhere you weren't meant to be.
