In Psalm 130 we’re given a song to cry out the Lord. Whether it is from a place of pain, suffering, chaos, shame or sorrow— the Lord receives our cry and bids us trust in him. May the Lord use Psalm 130 to teach us to bring our cares to him, knowing that he listens. And may we wait upon the Lord in trust and submission.

This Psalm is not about requests or complaints — it’s a Psalm that shouts praise! In a world full of burdens, David reminds us of six blessings in Psalm 103: Forgiveness. Healing. Redemption. Coronation. Satisfaction and Renewal. And yes — all of this is available to those who walk in obedience.

But what if you're struggling? What if obedience feels hard?

What kind of life stands firm when everything else falls apart? Psalm 112 offers a powerful answer: the life that fears the Lord and delights in His Word. In a world chasing after temporary success, this psalm paints a picture of lasting impact—a life marked by integrity, generosity, and deep trust in God. It’s a life not only secure, but also a source of blessing to others.

This week, as we open Psalm 112 together, we’ll consider what it means to live righteously and walk in godliness—and how this psalm ultimately points us to Christ, who fulfilled that life perfectly.

David opens this Thanksgiving Psalm by praising the Lord and encouraging others to join him.

In 1st Samuel, we are told that David escaped from Gath and fled to the cave of Adullam, where this psalm may have been written. Out of this experience, David shared four instructions for his own followers, (1) bless the Lord, (2) seek the Lord, (3) fear the Lord and, (4) trust the Lord - relevant instructions for us today, too. David is also inviting us to taste and see that the Lord is good.

As we seek to let the Word of Christ dwell richly in us this summer, we will “put on” the words of the Psalms, seek their influence on our worship and fill the Sanctuary with their words. Psalm 100 invites the people of God to look upon the glory of God and respond in joyful praise and reverent thankfulness.

After Saul's conversion, our text now turns to Peter as God uses him to heal a paralytic and to resurrect a dead woman. The gospel goes forth in power as a result of these miracles. Join us as we look into these two accounts, and set our hope on the healing and resurrection that is to come!

Saul's dramatic conversion on the road to Damascus reorients his entire life as he is transformed from a persecutor of the church to one of her apostles. His transformation is centered on the truth that Jesus is the Son of God. Join us as we consider its implications for Christians and non-Christians alike.

Saul the persecutor becomes a follower of Jesus by the sovereign mercy of God. Moreover, Saul the persecutor becomes a herald of the gospel he once sought to destroy. Saul's conversion and commission teach us vital lessons for life with Christ, including how we were saved and how Christ intends to use us for his purposes in the world.

At the beginning of Acts (1:8), Jesus tells the disciples that the kingdom is going to expand out from Jerusalem, to Judea, to Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 8 is the breaking of the border between Jew and Gentile, the Samaritan in-breaking. In this scene, we will see faithful and Spirit-filled Philip bring the gospel to the Samaritans. Many lives are changed, but we see a stark example of how NOT to respond to the gospel in Simon the Sorcerer. He is meant to shock us into real belief - the power of Jesus is to save and to bring into covenant. It is not a tool for our glory. But then we will see the glorious gospel breaking into yet another unexpected place, a eunuch from Ethiopia, who truly believes and is baptized. The gospel is breaking into new and unexpected places. It does the same today!

In Acts 6, 7 and 8, Stephen boldly proclaims the gospel and suffers in the footsteps of Christ. This week, we'll ask the question what is it to faithfully finish well? And, how can we boldly proclaim in the footsteps of the first martyr?
