Michael Pritchard talks about Joshua’s final challenge to the people of Israel as he urges them to stay faithful to the Lord and warns against the dangers of complacency and idolatry. • Finding Jesus in the Old Testament | Week Eight

March 12, 2025 | As we continue our series on Finding Jesus in the Old Testament, we explore one of the clearest foreshadowings of Christ’s mercy and salvation—the Cities of Refuge in Numbers 35. These divinely appointed cities were places of safety where those who had unintentionally caused harm could flee for protection. But they weren’t just ancient legal structures; they were a prophetic picture of Jesus Christ, our ultimate refuge.

    In this episode, we unpack:
✔ Why God established the Cities of Refuge and how they worked
✔ How they reveal God’s justice, mercy, and grace in both the Old and New Testaments
✔ The powerful connection to Jesus—our perfect and eternal refuge
✔ How salvation is freely available to all, but must be entered into to be received

Just as those seeking safety had to run to the city and stay within its walls, we, too, must run to Jesus and trust Him fully. The good news? Unlike the Cities of Refuge, where protection ended with the high priest’s death, our High Priest—Jesus—has already died and risen again, securing our salvation forever.

Are you resting in the refuge of Christ, or are you still running?

  • Finding Jesus in the Old Testament | Week Seven

March 5, 2025 | What do snakes, sin, and salvation have in common? In this episode, we dive into Numbers 21 and explore the powerful story of the bronze serpent, a symbol of both judgment and grace. As the Israelites rebelled against God, they faced the consequences of their sin—venomous snakes sent into their camp. But in His mercy, God provided a way for them to be saved: by simply looking at a bronze serpent lifted on a pole.

Jesus Himself referenced this moment in John 3:14-15, revealing that just as the Israelites were saved by looking at the bronze serpent, we are saved by looking to Him on the cross. This story is a direct foreshadowing of Christ’s redemptive work, showing us that salvation has always been about faith, trust, and obedience.

    🔹 Topics Covered:

✔ The danger of complaining and rejecting God’s provision

✔ How sin always leads to death, both physically and spiritually

✔ Why repentance is key—God turns when we turn to Him

✔ The simple yet profound call to obey and trust in God’s plan

✔ Jesus as the ultimate fulfillment of the bronze serpent (John 3:14-15)

Too often, we try to fix things ourselves or make sense of God’s ways. But just like the Israelites, God simply calls us to obey and trust. Are you looking to your own strength or are you fixing your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith?

The festivals were not just historical traditions—they were prophetic pictures pointing to God’s redemptive plan. Some have already been fulfilled in Christ’s first coming, while others still point to His return and ultimate reign.

February 12, 2025 | What happens when God moves in? In this episode, we explore Exodus 25:8-9, where God commands the Israelites to build the tabernacle—a dwelling place for His presence among His people. But this was only the beginning of a much greater plan.

We trace the theme of God dwelling with His people from the Garden of Eden to the tabernacle, to Jesus “tabernacling” among us, and ultimately to the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in every believer. This powerful truth changes everything about how we live, worship, and find joy in God’s presence today.
