Mistah Mocker the Mockingbird arrives at the Green Meadows and decides to visit Mrs. Peter, who is feeling homesick. Hidden in vines, Mistah Mocker imitates the voices of Mrs. Peter's old friends, making her believe a surprise party is happening. 

When she discovers it's just him, she is disappointed. Mistah Mocker, feeling ashamed, apologizes and promises to sing for her often at shadow-time if she forgives him, which she happily does.
