Having narrowly escaped Hooty the Owl, Peter Rabbit adopts a philosophical outlook, resolving to learn from the past rather than dwell on misfortune. Despite being sore and initially homesick in the unfamiliar Old Pasture, he finds comfort in the friendly briars and the rising sun. 

His curiosity is reawakened, and he eagerly anticipates exploring this new, wonderful land known for its hiding places and its history as a refuge for the Foxes.
