IN the middle of a heat wave of 37+ degrees we held a superb event at The Book Shop in Lee on the Solent, Hampshire with retired police officer Richard Foster. 

He told us how he started out, a few true crime stories and the illness that made him leave the force. 

He brought cupcakes, truncheons, whistles and even his police hat....
