Her work focuses on the ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) community in Israel and the USA. Before embarking on her doctoral studies, she served as an adviser to the ultra-Orthodox educational system, where she wrote a new curriculum and textbook in history for use in all Israeli Haredi high schools. Nechumi earned a Ph.D. in political science from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. She is the first woman from Israel’s ultra-Orthodox community to do so.
