CP is a client-centered, humanistic therapist who believes that it’s the human within the therapist that creates the space for recovery and self-actualization. CP’s holistic approach to treatment was born out of a deep appreciation for the mind-body connection. After working in vastly different populations, CP discovered early in her career that trauma and mental illness do not discriminate.

CP has worked in juvenile prison, methadone maintenance, inner-city homes and schools, residential treatment, foster care and private practice. CP is the co-founder of Atideinu, a non-profit organization that fosters social and emotional development in children.

Efrat Bruck, MD, graduated from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City and is now an anesthesiology resident at the Mount Sinai Hospital. Before medical school, she taught Judaic studies, Hebrew, and Biology to 1000 now-alumni of Be’er Hagolah Institutes, in Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Bruck has worked as a content specialist for Khan Academy and created over 30 MCAT preparation videos on topics in molecular biology, DNA, and genetics that have also recently been translated into foreign languages.  Her videos have been published on the AAMC (American Association of Medical Colleges) website, Khan Academy, and YouTube, accruing millions of views on the latter. Dr. Bruck has published research in Nature, the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, and Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Bruck founded and leads the JOWMA PreMed Society that aims to advance Jewish women, from all backgrounds, in medicine. Dr. Bruck is a fierce advocate for premed students from insular and underrepresented backgrounds and strives to provide them with the resources and tools necessary to compete. She was among two out of 200 graduating MDs, PhDs, and MD/PhDs at Sinai’s recent commencement to be awarded the Patricia Levinson Award for the Advancement and Inclusion of Women in Medicine. Dr. Bruck, along with her colleagues at JOWMA, is also currently in the process of constructing a cultural competency curriculum that will help healthcare professionals in New York City hospitals provide culturally sensitive medical care to Jewish populations across the entire spectrum of Orthodoxy.

Dr. Bruck’s experiences in education, acceptance to nearly 10 US MD programs, and service on the admissions committee of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai have led her to have a highly successful track record helping premeds navigate the medical school application process. Dr. Marcy Forta EdD, MBA is the founder and director of Atzmi, an organization dedicated to supporting the mental health of Jewish girls through programs that improve their self-esteem, body acceptance, and reduce the focus on outward appearances.  She specializes in eating disorder education, awareness, and prevention, focusing specifically on risk factors and prevention within the Jewish Orthodox Adolescent Female Community. She is also a Body Project Facilitator, and a Certified Holistic Nutritionist.

Dr. Forta’s doctoral research focused on community healthcare stakeholders descriptions of religious and environmental risk factors unique to the Jewish orthodox adolescent female community. Community healthcare stakeholders include rabbis, teachers, principals, mental and physical health professionals. Her research was conducted over a period of several years and focused on the U.S. Midwest region. There is long established evidence supporting prevention programs and their impact, this being the impetus to create Atzmi as the evidence suggests that their efficacy is vastly improved when tailored to specific demographics. Her research forms the basis of the eating disorder awareness, education, and prevention programs designed for this community.

Dr. Rivka Neriya-Ben Shahar is a Ruth Melzer fellow at the Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies at Penn University. She is a senior lecturer at Sapir Academic College in Sderot, Israel, where she teaches courses on research methods, communication, religion, and gender. She is also a scholar at the Israel Democracy Institute, where she studies media usage among the Ultra-Orthodox Jewish community. Dr. Neriya Ben-Shahar investigates mass media from the perspectives of religion and gender. Her research addresses the tensions existing between religious values and new media technologies among women in Old Order Amish and Ultra-Orthodox Jewish communities. Her book, Strictly Observant: Amish and Ultra-Orthodox Jewish Women Negotiating Media, was published by Rutgers University Press in January 2024.

Dr. Sara Markowitz, Ph.D. has achieved an incredible amount, in large part due to her personal “ADHD” superpowers.  In addition to obtaining a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Farleigh Dickinson University, Dr. Markowitz is is the founding director of an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for Jewish Women at Achieve Behavioral Health, the largest behavioral health center serving the greater Jewish community. Dr. Markowitz continues to develop curriculum and measure clinical outcome research for ADHD parenting groups and integration of ADHD individuals within the Jewish community.  She has developed curricula, currently utilized in schools and families focusing on overcoming challenges of multiple origins.

In addition to her formal professional activities, Dr. Markowitz is a mother to five awesome children and is the Rebbetzin of Congregation Shomrei Torah in Fairlawn, New Jersey.

Elissa is the Coordinator of Core’s Communities of Practice (CoP). In this role she facilitates connections, conversations and development of all the Core communities, provides essential support to CoP leaders and oversees the seamless execution of events. She plays a key role in enhancing the professional growth and community building efforts within each community. (www.CoreTorah.org) In addition, Elissa is the Founding Director of Core Connects RI, a non-profit organization that aims to deepen women’s connections to one another, to Jewish wisdom and Jewish values, to empower each other to find greater meaning, purpose and possibility in life and to cultivate unity without uniformity.

Elissa was born in London, England and in 1985 married her American husband and they started their married life in Washington, DC. After the death of her first child, Elissa started to explore Judaism in much greater depth. In her quest to understand the loss of her baby she explored Jewish sources in general and more specifically regarding death and the afterlife. She is very active on her local Chevra Kadisha, and she speaks widely on this topic. Elissa started and actively manages Core’s community of practice for women engaged with traditional Chevra Kadisha. To date it is truly an international community of hundreds of women from all over the US and Canada, the UK, France, Sweden, Holland, France, Italy, Israel, Chile, Panama, Mexico, South Africa and even Australia. The mission of the community is to share experiences, give encouragement, network and help to develop and support each other. 

Elissa is responsible for providing on-going professional development for the community. The knowledge she has acquired motivated her to write a book which is a personal memoir of loss and grief with the Jewish teachings about life, death and the afterlife woven into the story. The book, “From One Life to the Next Life; The Sacred Passage After Death,” is due to be released at the beginning of the summer with Mosaica Press. Through all of these experiences Elissa mentors and encourages others on their journeys
