Shanita’s story is a powerful reminder that God is present even in the darkest seasons.

From losing her father to cancer at just six years old, to watching her mother become disabled with multiple sclerosis, Shanita was forced to grow up far earlier than most. Through grief, instability, homelessness, and seasons of uncertainty, her faith in God remained. She shares how the Lord taught her to be still, trust Him, and depend on His provision one day at a time.

Years later, Shanita found herself without reliable transportation and facing another difficult season. When she was introduced to Chariots4Hope’s Vehicle Ownership Program, she wasn't even sure she could afford to participate. She stepped forward in faith, went through the process, and eventually arrived to discover a car waiting for her with a bow on it.

But as Shanita’s story makes clear, it was never just about a car.

It was about God’s faithfulness.

Throughout this conversation, Shanita shares how God has carried her through grief, hardship, brokenness, and uncertainty, and how He continued to provide in ways she never expected. Her story is a beautiful picture of what we mean when we say that at Chariots4Hope, it’s “beyond the car.”

Today, his marriage, business, and friendships are thriving. He even competes in powerlifting competitions, proving that recovery is possible and that strength comes in many forms.
