Listen Later

Charles Adams answers Isabelle Falconnier's question within the first few seconds of the Swiss press club conference on his reaction to Trump's election and its consequences for international Geneva. The word « horror » comes first, then a series of well-chosen words to signify his fear of the United States becoming a fascist state. Alongside him, Professor Daniel Warner, a true New Yorker, knows that the euphoria and disgust engendered by such a return to power could just as easily subside in the coming months. Former Ambassador Adams, an Obama supporter, and Warner both agree that the resistance will have to get back on track.

It's still early days. As for Geneva and the decisions already taken to cut off aid to the WHO by the Trump administration 2. There will be a direct effect, a sense of the League of Nations syndrome with a little death leading to regeneration. « The WTO is brain-dead », says Stéphane Bussard, head of the international section at Le Temps, and no doubt soon the WMO as well, with the US under Trump taking a turn against the development of a green economy, he also thinks that the ITU is in danger. Big tech moguls are investing in the Trump government and in Zurich.

A large number of high-calibre international researchers and engineers have been hired by Google and others in their Zurich units, as if a switch in economic power were gradually taking place from Lake Geneva to Lake Zurich.
