Humid days are here again as tropical moisture overspreads the area, bringing numerous showers and storms to the area on Friday before turning to more traditional afternoon storm chances for the weekend. We’re back in the 90s starting Saturday, and that looks to continue for a few days, too, with a fairly hot end to June in the cards.

A few showers will be possible near the coast on Thursday, but most of us should get the day in rain-free. This looks to change starting Friday as a tropical wave comes ashore to our south, bringing in a surge of moisture that should increase the coverage of scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Standard June weather continues this week, with near-normal temperatures to start the week warming to the low to mid-90s by the weekend. Rain chances start to head back up Wednesday, with a greater risk of rain with enhanced moisture Thursday and beyond. We may also see the first cyclone of the Atlantic hurricane season develop this week as well, though there are no Lowcountry concerns at this point.

It’ll be a hot and sunny early June weekend in the Lowcountry as dry high pressure is the main weather driver. Expect highs to top out in the 90s each afternoon, with potentially the hottest day thus far in 2024 arriving Sunday with highs in the upper 90s expected.
